JOHN W. LAMBERT COURTESY AWARD

John W. Lambert is a Paul Harris Fellow, a past president of the Rotary Club of West Raleigh, and the 1973 recipient of the Holoman Service Award. He was the initial chairman of the courtesy award committee and has been instrumental in developing the award to its current status.

The John W. Lambert Courtesy Award is presented quarterly. This award is presented to people who have made a contribution to our community by living and sharing a cordial, friendly and helpful way of life. This quality of life is so desirable and enduring to our community that the Rotary Club of West Raleigh will invite the named recipient to a club meeting to present them with the Distinguished Courtesy Award and trophy. Additionally, the recipient receives a proclamation from the Mayor of Raleigh recognizing the award date as "recipients day" in Raleigh.

RI PRESIDENTIAL CITATIONS: CLUB AND PRESIDENT

The RI Presidential Citations are used to recognize outstanding Rotary Clubs. To receive these citations, clubs and the President must undertake a well-rounded program of activities within each Avenue of Service. The President's Citation was started in 1993. The Rotary Club of West Raleigh has received the RI Presidentiial Citation every year of its existence. Each citation has it's own set of requirements to achieve, as prescribed by the Rotary International president for their year.

FOUR AVENUES OF SERVICE AWARD FOR INDIVIDUAL ROTARIANS

Recognizing that the strength of the Rotary movement is founded on the service carried out by club members worldwide, the purpose of this citation program is to provide a means for Rotary Clubs to personally recognize members of the club for his/her outstanding efforts in the Four Avenues of Service. The citation commends the service carried out by an individual Rotarian in the club, thereby reinforcing the importance which Rotary places on the personal involvement of each club member in Rotary service activities. Recipients in our Club are:
2000: W. Kern Holoman
2004: John C. "Spike" Symonds

The HOLOMAN SERVICE AWARD

In the ideal of ''Service Above Self,'' the object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the application of such service by every Rotarian to his personal, business and community life. The Chreston Holoman Service Award was established in 1972 and is given annually for the purpose of recognizing those members of West Raleigh Rotary who have best fulfilled this idea of service or have made an outstanding contribution having a direct relationship to Rotary activity. It is named in honor of the Club's first President and was originally made possible by a gift from his Rotary-Ann, Luna. Members who have received this award are:
